Basics of Pistol

Even if you have never held a handgun, you will be able to safely handle, shoot, clean, and store a semi-automatic pistol and revolver after you complete this course series. If you are already familiar with handguns, the shooting skills section of these clinics can help you become a more accurate, faster handgun marksman.

This course series is low-pressure, low-stress, and fun. It is very ‘hands-on’. You can ask questions at any time! If this is your first time to the clinics we have goodie bags for you with eye and ear protection and more. You do not need to own a handgun to take this course. In fact, this class teaches you how to choose your first handgun! Both semi-automatic and revolver-type handguns are available for use while you are taking the clinic. If you own a handgun,  or more than one bring them this is a great way to learn skills with each one!

This clinic series you will learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This clinic has 5 lesson phases for you to complete at your own pace. Once all 5 lesson phases are done you will have learned NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest and two handed standing positions; cleaning the handgun; and continued opportunities for skill development.

Although there are no pre-requisites or age restrictions for the clinics, a general minimum age suggestion would be 12 years old. This may vary significantly depending upon the specific student’s maturity level and attention span.

The 3rd lesson phase, is NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program that offers shooters a self-paced training platform to develop your shooting skills. It’s a drill. Progression is self-paced and scores are challenging but attainable. Take your shooting skills to the next level and challenge yourself with this clinic today!
